| South Korea-invested Enterprises in China Reduced Investment in Manufacturing and Increased that in Service Industry |

According to the news of Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, in the project of South Korea-invested enterprises in China, the service industry showed a significant increase while the manufacturing industry gradually declined. Korean enterprises invested USD5.226b in China last year, in which the investment of manufacturing and service industries were USD3.641b and USD1.585b respectively. From 2004 to 2006, the service investment in China of Korean enterprises were USD209m, USD536m and USD618m, which shows that the investment on service last year doubled than that of 2006, showing a substantial increase in service investment. At present the increased investment in China on service industry mainly focuses on finance, wholesale & retail, real estate development and other large projects. In contrast, manufacturing investment in China continued to decline since the share of 92.5% in 2001, with 69.7% in last year. The current manufacturing investment mainly concentrates in automobile, shipbuilding and other major projects to increase the amount of investment, with a decline in the number of investment case, which reduced to 10.7%. |
