Taiwan Investment Gradually Moves to Central and Western China

Source from Chongqing Customs, due to the opening up of Taiwan tourism industry, the success of negotiation on weekend charter flight and Taiwan investment shift to central and western China, Taiwan has become the 6th largest trading partner of Chongqing at one bound this year. It was known that from January to May of this year, trade of Chongqing to Taiwan saw the change from the negative balance of USD18.29m to favorable balance of USD 1.775m from the same period of last year. Among them, export of Chongqing to Taiwan rose by 4.1times.

The data showed that from January to May of this year, the general trading export of Chongqing to Taiwan stood at USD57.29m, up by 5.8 times. While export of State-owned enterprises to Taiwan increases at a high speed, import of foreign-invested enterprises takes a leading position with import of mechanical and electrical products as dominant and export of resource products as major. Among them, import of machinery making paper products reached USD23.32m while no export in the sphere occurred at the same period of last year. The newly increased crude and semi-finished silvers of Chongqing to Taiwan amounted to 30,000 tons worth USD14.34m, the exported leading and ferroalloy 4006 tons and 8457 tons, valued at USD11.46m and USD11.02m respectively.
